The Dreaded TEAS Test

I have eleven days…
Eleven days until I take the dreaded TEAS test and I believe that my stressed out body may or may not make it that far. My only saving grace is that I am allowed to take this test TWICE total in order to be accepted into the Nursing Programs near me.
For those of you who have the luxury of not knowing what the TEAS test is, it is a huge four-hour test that one must take to get into the Nursing program. I’ve heard people say that it is the BAR Exam to get into the program and the RN Test is the BAR exam to exit the program. It tests you on four subjects: Reading, English, Math and Science. However, the tests really don’t stop there. It also tests you on specific subjects and life lessons. So in reality, this test is over:

Life Lessons:

  • Common Sense
  • Logic
  • Problem Solving

  • Comprehension
  • Understanding
  • Memorization

  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Sentence Structure

Basic Math (labeled as Pre-Calculus and below):

  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Statistics
  • Data Interpretation and Input
  • Dreaded Word Problems

  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Physics (with apparently some engineering as well!)
  • Biology (Animal and Plant)
  • Taxonomy
  • Laws of Science/ Scientific Reasoning/Methods
  • Evolution
  • Genetics
  • Clinical/NAC/CNA
  • Microbiology
  • And apparently some History of Science as well.

As of right now I am nose deep in a “Pass the TEAS” book, every Science, Math and English textbook I own, Every notebook I filled, every flash card set I’ve ever studied (and still making more) and every website with practice tests and quizzes. According to all these materials and websites, I have so much to review, so much to learn (Engineering? Math? Physics?) and so much to process before the test. The test I need to pass to continue forward. No pressure right?

If anyone has taken the TEAS test and has any advice, tips and/or warnings I’d greatly appreciate it!

Severely Stressed Out,
